Do you have questions about moving in the Halifax - Dartmouth area? We've got answers! With over 50 years of moving experience, we can help guide you through the moving process. If you don't see an answer to your question in the list below, just reach out and ask us!

1. Do you provide a binding or a not-to-exceed estimate?
For long-haul moves, we can provide a binding estimate because the scope of the job is more predictable.
For local moves, however, we don’t offer binding estimates since the total time can vary based on factors like traffic, access, and any additional tasks needed on moving day. Local moves are billed based on our hourly rate so you only pay for the actual time and services used.
2. Are there any additional fees (for stairs, long carries, fuel, etc.)?
We do not have any additional fees. We charge each job on an hourly basis. Our hourly rates begin when our crew departs from our yard and end when they return at the end of the job. This ensures we cover the full time our team and trucks are dedicated to your move. Please note that all jobs in the Halifax area are subject to a 2.5-hour minimum charge, regardless of the size of the job. This helps cover travel, setup, and service time.
3. How long have you been in business, and can you provide references?
We have been in business for over 50 years – we are one of the longest running family moving businesses in Halifax & Dartmouth. We would be happy to provide references upon request.
4. What services are included in the quote (e.g., packing, furniture disassembly/reassembly)?
We do offer these services, but they must be discussed and confirmed prior to the day of the move as there are certain types of furniture we do not disassemble and reassembly.
5. Are you a broker or a carrier? Will you use subcontractors for any part of the move?
We are a fully independent moving company. We do not subcontract for any part of the move.
6. What is your specific process for filing and resolving a damage claim?
Our damage-claim process is handled personally to ensure fairness and clarity. If an issue arises, you’ll speak directly with the owner, who reviews each situation on a case-by-case basis. We assess the details, discuss possible solutions with you, and work toward a prompt and reasonable resolution.
7. Do you have experience moving specialty items (pianos, safes, artwork)?
Yes, we have extensive experience moving specialty items due to our many years in the industry. We just ask for details ahead of time—such as the item type, size, weight, and any access limitations—so we can bring the proper equipment and plan the move safely and efficiently.
8. What are your payment terms and cancellation policy?
Payment is due at the end of the move, once the final hours are tallied. We accept credit cards and bank transfers. Personal checks are not accepted on moving day.
We do require deposits during high-demand times of the year—such as the end of the month—because our schedule fills up quickly. The deposit secures your date and crew, and it is non-refundable. This policy helps us ensure availability for clients who are fully committed to their booking.
